Susan A. Barnes, LMT, CLT joins the practice after 5 years in a mid-coast Chiropractic Office. Prior to becoming a massage therapist, Susan conceived, designed, owned and operated a popular restaurant in Rockland. As a trained chef and former business owner, she brings a deep understanding of the rigors of hard work and the stress that it inflicts on the body. Through massage therapy, she has been able to help clients determine their “pressure” points and has helped them relieve anywhere from mild to acute neuromuscular issues. Susan is also a Certified Lymph Drainage Therapist and Reiki I & II trained.

Susan believes that healing and relaxation should be intertwined to achieve the maximum benefits of therapy. By integrating different practices to treat site specific needs, an overall picture of health and wellness can be obtained.

Susan employs a variety of modalities to help pinpoint and treat clients’ specific needs:

  • Active Release
  • Pressure Point
  • Lymphatic Drainage
  • Deep Tissue
  • Neuromuscular Stretching
  • Prenatal Massage
  • Reiki

Gary Gurney, Certified Rolfer â began his journey to Rolfing in 1992 when he began practicing yoga. His yoga practice led to an interest in bodywork, and he headshot1gary.jpgsubsequently studied Polarity Therapy, shiatsu and therapeutic massage. Gary became a licensed massage therapist in 1998.

In 2004, Gary received Rolfing and was deeply moved by the profound benefits. His normal levels of stress and anxiety decreased considerably, and he felt a consistent level of ease and comfort in his body.

Gary decided to devote his full energy to starting a Rolfing practice, and he received his training and certification at the Rolf Institute for Structural Integration in 2006. Gary is delighted to offer this profound, powerful bodywork and education system to the greater Portland community.
